Australian rugby league legend and APLNG safety ambassador, Darren Lockyer, paid a visit to the APLNG Water Treatment Facilities Project near Miles in the Surat Basin area of Queensland on the 15th May 2014 and gave an inspiring speech on the subject of Occupational Health and Safety. The Surat Basin area is close to Locky’s heart as he spent much of his formative years honing his skills in the Roma and Wandoan areas.
EnerMech employees met with Darren and discussed the importance of Occupational Health and Safety within the oil and gas industry. EnerMech is operating the Permit-to-Work system at the APLNG Water Treatment Facilities Project which is one of the most important elements in implementing Occupational Health and Safety standards on the project. EnerMech is working hand in hand with Origin Energy to maintain an immaculate level of safety on their sites.
EnerMech, in honor of Locky’s efforts to promote a safe working environment, have created the “ Group Australia Monthly Safety Award” to be presented to the Group Australia employee who embodies the EnerMech slogan “Start Safe, Stay Safe, Home Safe” and shows outstanding safety awareness in the workplace.
Locky has been working very closely with the APLNG project. Click on the video below to watch Darren’s journey in understanding how Coal Seam Gas is extracted and how it is being used.
EnerMech EPS would like to extend our gratitude to Origin Energy and Queensland’s favorite son Locky, for being the guest speaker and sharing our passion for Occupational Health & Safety.
