EnerMech EPS is excited to announce the appointment of Stephen Thompson as General Manager, representing another step on our journey to becoming the No.1 provider of specialised services in the electrical industry.
Stephen is an industry veteran with over 40 years’ experience, having worked exclusively for Downer, a name synonymous with major engineering and infrastructure projects in Australia and abroad. EnerMech EPS is thrilled to be in a position to attract talented professionals of Steve’s calibre.
After 43 years of stellar service with the same company, Steve has chosen the challenge of General Manager of EPS Group Australia as the next chapter in his distinguished career. Steve believes his skills and expertise and industry knowledge can bring EPS to new heights while also on a personal level taking on a very rewarding role in a family business.
Steve’s achievements in the industry are without question however for those that know Steve, it comes as no surprise that he is not resting on his achievements and is instead taking on a new challenge. Former protégé and current EPS director, John Cox has said “I have been working with Steve for a number of years. He is held in a very high regard within the industry and it is an honor that he has joined EnerMech EPS. I have learnt an enormous amount from Steve in the past and I look forward to working with him again in the future building a great team”.
Project’s on which Steve has been pivotal include the Melbourne Water Green Energy Project, the Australian Pacific Airport HV Upgrade, the Victorian Desalination Plant and the Wonthaggi Wind Farm amongst many others.
On the Victorian Desalination project, Steve was a key component in the Downer Group being awarded the Victorian NECA award in the category of Large Industrial Project. NECA, the peak industry body for electrical and communications contracting, awarded this on the basis that Downer was able “to rapidly mobilise and action the work in record time”.
EnerMech EPS is currently one of the best performing companies in our industry, indeed in any industry. With his breadth of knowledge in high voltage engineering, commissioning, Total Quality Management Procedures, strategic planning, safety and procurement, Steve represents a fantastic fit with our strategic vision moving forward. Having previously worked in a company with a workforce of over 21 000, the addition of Steve’s project management, strategic planning and industry experience will ensure EnerMech EPS continues to deliver the outstanding client outcomes we’ve become renowned for, during our forthcoming period of sustained growth.
